Chat - Instant Messaging

Chat Help Summary

The Chat System in MyHub is a built-in communication tool that allows users to collaborate in real time through direct messages, public/private channels, and discussions. It's designed to streamline team communication, organize conversations by topic, and offer flexible notification options to ensure nothing is missed.

Key Features & Benefits: Direct Messaging Instant one-on-one communication between any two users. Access users through the directory to start new conversations. Supports replies via threads for clearer message context.

Channels (Public or Private): Channels serve as broader conversation hubs for teams or topics (e.g., Sales, Marketing). Public channels are open to all users; private channels are invite-only.

Additional options include: Read-only (view-only messages). Broadcast (announcements with limited reply permissions).

Discussions (Within Channels): Use discussions for more targeted conversations within a channel (e.g., March Deliverables under Marketing). Keeps related topics grouped without cluttering the main channel feed.

Threaded Replies: Respond directly to specific messages using threads, keeping context clear in busy chats.

File Sharing & History: Upload documents, images, and videos via the plus icon in the message input area. File List provides access to all previously shared files.

User Status & Customization: Set your status as Online, Away, Busy, Invisible, or add a custom status. Change chat layout and sort conversations based on personal preference.

Notification Management: Customize how and when notifications are received: Real-time alerts for mentions or all messages. Email digests (default every 24 hours). Full control over notification frequency and format.

Why Use the Chat System? The MyHub Chat System provides a centralized, organized, and secure way to communicate across your intranet. With flexible permissions, discussion management, and notification control, it ensures teams stay connected without information overload.
